Murals
A gallery of murals to date.
The home of Rachel’s first ten murals are at The Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading Berkshire. Several in the Lion ward, two in the Dolphin Ward, one in the Children’s Clinic and one trompe l’oeil in the Recovery ward. A Trompe L’oeil is similar to a mural but the techniques used create an optical illusion. Using realistic perspective, painting light and shade according to the particular environment, it gives the impression of the subject being really there.
Later in the Midlands, Birmingham City Council came to the aid of St Richards Community Hall in Kitts Green, Birmingham, to decorate after fire damage. There Rachel met and worked with a talented group of youth from the local community and together they achieved two nine metre murals.
